The groups depend on the variables, representation and distance criterion. They are not natural categories proven by the [algorithm](https://www.zorraquino.com/en/dictionary/internet/algorithm.html) and require interpretation. In search, the term can also describe the grouping of related results. That particular application does not encompass its full statistical meaning or imply that all search engines work in the same way.
