## What it is and how it works

It usually has its own design, messaging and sometimes its own domain or subdomain, and is often limited to the duration of the campaign. It is used, for example, to launch a product, run an event, present a report or celebrate an anniversary, when the content needs different treatment from the corporate website.

It differs from a landing page, which is a single page focused on one conversion such as filling in a form, whereas a microsite can have several sections and informational or experiential aims. It is worth planning what will happen to it after the campaign so as not to leave orphaned content or lose the links it has earned.
