## What it is and how it works

The work starts from keyword research and search intent to decide which topics to cover and how to structure them: headlines, headings, meta descriptions, internal links and category or product page copy. The aim is to answer what people are looking for while helping search engines understand the content.

It differs from a general web copywriter in that the work is also measured by organic performance, and from a content writer in that it usually blends persuasion with optimisation. Practices that put the algorithm before the reader, such as keyword stuffing, tend to harm both readability and rankings.
