ODP (Open Directory Project)

ODP, also known as DMOZ, was a web directory organised by volunteer editors. It classified sites into categories and served as a reference during a period of directory-based content discovery

What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.

What it is and how it works

It is retained as a historical term, not as a service where a listing can currently be requested. Its interest lies in understanding the editorial selection of links and its relationship with search engines. Inclusion in a web directory does not, in itself, constitute a search ranking strategy today.
