Finstagram
A finstagram is a second, private Instagram account with a small circle of trusted followers, used to post more spontaneous content than the main account

What it is and how it works
The term blends “fake” and “Instagram” and became popular, especially among teenagers and young adults, in the mid-2010s. It is often shortened to “finsta”. Unlike the main account, which is curated and aspirational, a finsta is for unedited photos, humour or everyday moments shared with a small group.
The phenomenon highlights the gap between a public social media image and communication among friends, a trend later reflected in features such as Instagram's Close Friends list and in apps built around authenticity. For brands it is a signal about the kind of content and spaces this audience values, not a channel to enter.
