Freeware

Freeware is software made available at no charge for use under a set of licence conditions. Free of charge does not mean free of restrictions

What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.

What it is and how it works

The licence may limit modification, redistribution or certain uses. Nor does it imply access to the source code. It differs from free software, which is defined by the freedoms it grants, and from a trial, which limits the period or features available before a purchase or subscription. The choice should consider the actual terms and maintenance as well as price.
