Storyboard
A storyboard is a sequence of panels that depicts, step by step, a story, a piece of audiovisual content or a person’s experience with a product or service
What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.
What it is and how it works
In film, advertising and animation it is used to plan shots, framing, movement and timing before filming or animating, and it helps the whole team share the same vision. Each panel is usually accompanied by notes on dialogue, sound or duration.
In user experience design it is used to tell, through simple drawings, the context in which someone uses a product, their goal, the steps they take and how they feel. Unlike a wireframe or mockup, which show screens, a storyboard focuses on the situation and the narrative. It is quick and inexpensive and helps to spot problems before detailed design begins.
