Embedding

An embedding is a numerical representation of data that makes it possible to compare learned relationships between texts, images or other items

What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.

What it is and how it works

It is used in semantic search, recommendations and clustering. Proximity between representations may indicate similarity according to the model, but it does not prove equivalence or truthfulness. Choosing and evaluating embeddings should reflect the type of content and the task.
