App overload

App overload is an informal expression describing the proliferation of applications and competition for attention and device space. It is not a standardised technical category

What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.

What it is and how it works

It raises a product question: what need justifies asking people to install an application and use it regularly? Publishing another application does not ensure adoption. The proposition should offer recognisable utility and sustain it through updates, without using general download figures to infer demand for a particular product.
