What it is and how it works
It was created by Pyra Labs in 1999 and acquired by Google in 2003. It was one of the tools that popularised personal blogging in the early 2000s. Blogs are published by default on a blogspot.com subdomain, though they can use a custom domain.
It now plays a smaller role than WordPress and other platforms, and its development has been limited in recent years, but it remains active. In English, blogger also refers to anyone who writes a blog; Spanish uses bloguero for that sense.
