What is WYSIWYG or what you see is what you get?

Acronym for “What you see is what you get”, which refers to user interfaces that enable users to see the final results of their actions, whilst they are editing the information.

The first WYSIWYG interfaces were developed for word processors, that had previously not been able to preview final appearance until a document was printed.

WYSIWYG is now also common in HTML and CMS editors.
