Visual search

Visual search uses an image as input to find information or related items. It can recognise objects, compare shapes or retrieve images with similar characteristics

What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.

What it is and how it works

The result depends on the system and what appears in the image. Visual similarity does not prove that two products are identical or that a match correctly identifies an object. In a catalogue, clear images and consistent product data support a useful experience, but do not guarantee visibility in every visual search tool.
