Pop-under ad
A pop-under is a window that opens behind the active browser window, usually containing advertising. It may become visible when the main window is closed or minimised
What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.
What it is and how it works
It is retained as a reference to web advertising formats. Its position among browser windows does not prevent it from being intrusive or making it difficult to identify which site generated it. For current communications, the proposed approach is to use identifiable, controllable spaces and avoid opening unexpected windows as a retention mechanism.
