Beta software

A beta version is software distributed to test its operation and gather information before a more stable stage. It may be limited to a group or opened to more participants

What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.

What it is and how it works

The alpha and beta labels do not guarantee an identical process across organisations. Features, limitations and incident handling need to be explained. A beta is not equivalent to an MVP either: an MVP is defined by learning about a hypothesis, although both may coincide in the same version.
