Blog spam

Blog spam involves posting comments, entries or links that make no relevant contribution in order to promote a destination or manipulate its visibility. It can be posted manually or automatically

What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.

What it is and how it works

Moderation should assess content and behaviour, not just the presence of a link. The attributes ugc, sponsored and nofollow describe different link relationships; they do not turn a useless comment into quality content or guarantee how every search engine will treat it. A community needs understandable rules and mechanisms for removing abuse.
