EdgeRank
EdgeRank was the name of the algorithm Facebook used to decide which posts to show in each user's News Feed and in what order

What it is and how it works
It became known around 2010 and combined three factors: the affinity between the user and the poster, the weight of the type of interaction or content, and time decay since posting. For years it was the standard explanation for why a page's organic reach was limited.
Facebook stopped using the name and that model long ago, replacing it with machine-learning ranking systems that consider many more signals. The January 2018 change, which prioritised interactions between friends and family over page content, came under that later system. The term is kept as a historical reference.
