Mouseover

Mouseover describes the interaction that occurs when a pointer is placed over an element. It may trigger a visual change or reveal additional information

What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.

What it is and how it works

The JavaScript mouseover event and the CSS :hover state are related, but not identical. Essential information should also be usable with a keyboard and on devices without reliable hover interaction. Content that appears when the pointer passes over it needs to be perceptible and remain available long enough to be read or used.
