Tipping point
A tipping point is a threshold beyond which a system's behaviour changes significantly. In diffusion, it is used to describe moments of accelerated spread of an idea or practice
What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.
What it is and how it works
It need not coincide with a fixed phase of adoption and cannot always be predicted in advance. Its strategic usefulness lies in identifying conditions and signals of change. Presenting a later development as though it had been inevitable obscures the uncertainty that existed when decisions were made.
