Interaction design
Interaction design defines how a person carries out actions and receives responses from a product or system
What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.
What it is and how it works
It works with flows, controls, states and rules of behaviour. It should make possibilities and consequences visible. An animation or a button is part of the interaction, and its value is tested across the whole task.
Variants and linked concepts
- Backdrop. An overlay background helps indicate that a layer is active. It should be accompanied by correct handling of focus and closing.
- Scrims. A scrim is a visual layer that can improve contrast or separate planes. Its effect should be assessed to make sure it does not hide necessary information.
- Snackbar. A brief notification can report on an action without interrupting the task. Its duration and accessibility should allow people to perceive it.
