Bootcamp
A bootcamp is an intensive, hands-on training programme lasting a few weeks or months that focuses on a specific professional skill
What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.
What it is and how it works
It became popular in coding and later spread to UX/UI design, data analytics, digital marketing and cybersecurity. It usually involves real or simulated projects, a heavy time commitment and instructors working in the field, and often requires no prior degree.
It differs from a degree or master’s in its length, applied focus and lighter theory, and from a short course in its intensity. The name comes from military boot camps. When assessing one, it is worth checking the syllabus, the real workload and verifiable employment data rather than job promises.
