A botnet is a collection of compromised devices used in coordination without their owners' legitimate control. It can be used to send abusive messages, distribute threats or attack other systems

What it is and how it works
Coordination may rely on command servers or distributed structures. A compromised device does not always show obvious symptoms. Operationally, prevention and response require maintaining devices, restricting access and isolating compromised systems to prevent their continued participation.
