Creative Commons

Creative Commons provides licences that allow rights holders to specify how others may reuse a work. Conditions can include attribution and restrictions on certain uses or modifications

What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.

What it is and how it works

The licences do not all grant the same permissions. The particular licence and its version establish the scope of authorisation. A licence covering a work does not automatically resolve other rights, such as those relating to people depicted or trade marks appearing in it. Access to the file is no substitute for that information.
