Mashup

A mashup combines information or functions from different sources to create a new application or presentation. It may bring together, for example, geographical data and a catalogue of services

What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.

What it is and how it works

Integration needs to preserve the meaning and provenance of the information. The fact that two sources can be connected technically does not guarantee that their data is compatible or authorised for that use. It is also necessary to plan for what happens when a source changes, stops responding or changes its terms.
