Phishing

Phishing is a deception that uses a trusted identity or appearance to obtain data, access or money. It can arrive through different channels and combine messages, pages and calls

What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.

What it is and how it works

Urgency or a recognisable sender does not establish authenticity. When faced with a sensitive request, it is advisable to use an official channel known independently. Multifactor authentication adds protection, but its different forms do not offer the same resistance. An isolated check, such as seeing HTTPS, does not prove that the message is legitimate.
