Von Restorff effect
The Von Restorff effect, or isolation effect, describes how an item that stands out within a group can be easier to remember under certain conditions
What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.
What it is and how it works
In design, it encourages examination of contrast between elements, but does not establish that anything highlighted will attract more attention or increase conversions. Differentiation should help people understand the hierarchy. If too many elements compete to stand out, the signal becomes less clear and can make the task harder.
