Cost per lead

Cost per lead, or CPL, relates acquisition spend to the number of contacts obtained

What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.

What it is and how it works

Interpreting it requires defining which conditions turn a sign-up into a lead and which costs are included. It is best analysed together with qualification and conversion to customer. Reducing CPL at the expense of irrelevant contacts can worsen the commercial result.
