Augmented reality

Augmented reality incorporates digital elements into an experience of the real environment. It may use cameras, screens, display devices or projections to connect information with objects and spaces

What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.

What it is and how it works

It differs from virtual reality, which places the person in a digitally generated environment. Its usefulness depends on how the displayed information relates to the context of use. Alignment, legibility and interaction should help someone understand or complete a task; the visual effect alone does not demonstrate value.
