Page view
A page view is each load or display of a web page recorded by an analytics tool
What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.
What it is and how it works
It is one of the basic web analytics metrics and shows which content is consulted most. If someone reloads a page or returns to it within the same session, several views are counted, so it is not the same as users or sessions.
In Google Analytics 4 the metric is called “views” and comes from the page_view event, which can also be recorded without a full reload in single-page applications if measurement is set up for it. Screens viewed in mobile apps are added to the same metric.
It is best read alongside other signals, such as engagement time or conversions: a high number of views may reflect interest, but also confusing navigation that forces people to go back and forth.
