What is electronic commerce?

Any commercial transaction performed over the Internet, be it via computers, mobile phones or other devices.

Thanks to the capability of modern technologies to promote interaction and connectivity, electronic commerce offers access to millions of users with whom to do business. Today, virtually all large companies have an online presence, and have built websites with virtual stores to facilitate access to their products and services catalogues. But there are also strictly online businesses, born on the network and well-established, such as online store Amazon.com

With electronic commerce, the negotiation and procurement of goods and services is performed using websites; depending on their nature, products may be downloaded or physically received in the mail; and normally employs credit cards for payment.
