Systems thinking

Systems thinking analyses how relationships between elements produce behaviours and outcomes in a whole

What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.

What it is and how it works

It considers feedback loops, delays and indirect consequences. It can help explain why a local improvement makes another process worse. Applying it requires data and testing, because a convincing diagram does not in itself demonstrate a causal relationship.
