Persevere
To persevere, in the lean startup methodology, is to decide to keep the current strategy or product because the data from experiments supports the original hypothesis
What it means, how it is used and where it comes up, with its related concepts.
What it is and how it works
It pairs with pivoting: after each build-measure-learn cycle, the team reviews the results, usually obtained with a minimum viable product, and decides whether to stay on course or change a fundamental part of the model. Eric Ries framed this as a regular “pivot or persevere” meeting.
Persevering does not mean standing still: the product keeps improving, but without altering the main hypothesis about the customer, the problem or the business model. The risk is mistaking it for inertia, so it helps to agree in advance which metrics will show that the hypothesis is validated.
