A weak signal is an early or not yet established indication of a possible change whose meaning is still uncertain

What it is and how it works
It can appear in minority practices, research or behaviours. It should be put in context and checked against other observations. A signal may not develop into a trend, so it is worth recording hypotheses and conditions for monitoring.
