Desire prevails over need
The growing dynamization by brands and users of these immersive worlds is building a new consumer society based on the acquisition of NFT digital objects. From a work of art, a piece of clothing or even the purchase of a home, the metaverse is beginning to fill up with virtual goods that will not cross the borders into real life.
But how much is the consumer willing to pay for something that will not materialize in physical life? Users of the metaverse have already purchased virtual goods for thousands and millions with the sole purpose of their avatar having a car of a wellknown brand, a house with a swimming pool or the latest sneakers that have been released on the market.
Product offerings are still limited, but the trend tells us that many consumers are willing to make significant investments and spend money in these new environments.
And although the impact will reach all sectors, luxury is capitalizing on the metaverse, reaching unimaginable levels. According to the consulting firm Morgan Stanley, sales in the digital universe in the luxury industry could reach up to $50 billion by 2030.
A context that inevitably brings us closer to utopia. The metaverse runs the risk of generating unreal lives, based on appearances, status and purchasing power that, on many occasions, do not correspond to the real world.

In the metaverse it is not only possible to buy. These environments will make it easier for users to create their own virtual goods so that they can sell them in these immersive worlds, generating new ways of earning a living.
- 02
Although today there are still boundaries between the two worlds, nothing will prevent the real world and the virtual world from intertwining. Avatars will be able to buy virtual products, which they will also be able to enjoy as consumers in their real lives.
- 03
The metaverse can turn us into what we have always wanted to be. From physical appearance to the acquisition of goods that in the real world we can't afford. We will have to define the limits well in order not to fall into utopian lifestyles.
