Nothing ties us down

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the trend of “working from anywhere” has accelerated considerably. The faltering tourism sector has had to look desperately for solutions to fill at least some of its hotel rooms, despite travel restrictions around the world during 2020.

At the same time, employees and freelancers in many places are tiring of working only from home: their productivity and wellbeing suffer from the lack of separation between professional and private life.

Countries such as Estonia, Barbados, Georgia and the Czech Republic are looking to attract digital nomads to cushion, among other things, the fall in tourism. The arrival of these professionals can also be an opportunity for depopulated areas or those with a very ageing population.

“Business travel is in shambles and will never be the same. Some destinations and hotels will have to adapt to a tourist that travel less frequently but stay longer”. Emmanuel Guisset, founder and CEO of Outsite, coliving and community platform for remote workers.
