Reviewing what it means to live

The pandemic was a massive shock to property markets, although after lockdown we are seeing an acceleration of changes that were already under way: a move away from cities in favour of rural areas in an attempt to improve quality of life, more remote working from home, home gyms, a renewed interest in self-sufficiency…

The scenario that COVID-19 imposed on us has led society to review what it means to live, creating meaningful and versatile spaces where we can carry out different tasks depending on the time of day.

For example, from the perspective of a block of flats, it means rethinking shared community spaces and common outdoor areas such as gardens or play areas, so that they are big enough, welcoming and, of course, offer privacy.

“Houses won't be a collection of things, they will be a collection of experiences”. Conrad Zurini, estate agent at Hamilton RE/MAX.
