Everyday substances

The public is increasingly relaxed about the use of certain drugs considered light in different areas of life. Among consumers it is completely normal to turn to substances that help them escape, reach a state of wellbeing or are simply for enjoyment.

The social taboo around the concept of drugs is weakening. Society distinguishes hard drugs from soft ones, accepting the use of the latter as natural and widening the range of people who use them.

The range of options derived from traditional drugs is thus expanding. New products appear that adapt to everyday situations, avoiding excess, and fit into our daily lives with less friction.

What seemed unthinkable a few years ago has now become a real, healthier alternative that does not conflict with health, religious beliefs or pregnancy, among other things.

Some, such as microdoses of psilocybin or LSD, are gaining a lot of popularity and, although their benefits are still being studied, professionals say they help lower levels of anxiety and depression.

Likewise, the CBD boom is reaching all kinds of beauty, food and even pet-care products, with specialist shops now in every city.

For recreational use, guided trips to take ayahuasca and other mushroom-based substances are becoming fashionable and, as a sign of their acceptance, are presented with carefully crafted design and advertising.

New alternative drugs that reopen old debates between the merits of legalisation and the normalisation of their use.
