What is a dedicated server?

Physical server that is exclusively reserved for the account and for the use of one single client, which may be a person or a company, normally for the purpose of hosting his/her/its website or to store information. It is distinguished from shared servers in that these are used to host various websites using the same hardware and software. Its advantages include that it can be administered by the client directly and that is offers greater security and speed, but the disadvantage is that the price is normally higher.
