What is OTT (Over the top)?

Platforms that provide services for the transfer of audio, video, or other contents via the internet, without their own broadband infrastructure or any control by telecommunications operators. The service supplier receives the content from a third party (in IP packages) and sends it on-demand to the end user, who may utilize the service in question (voice, messaging, audiovisual) and view it via a connected device (tablet, mobile telephone, smart TV...). These services range from the distribution of audiovisual content – such as Netflix or HBO – to cloud computing – Dropbox or Box – and also include communications – so-called IP voice calls with Skype or instant messaging with Whatsapp.
