What is phishing?

Fraudulent email practice involving the identity theft of a reputable contact (bank, government organisation, shop, etc.), posing as that contact to take advantage of the trust the addressee has deposited in it, and gather confidential information and data such as account numbers, passwords or any other type of privileged information that can be exploited.

In general, emails appear in the inbox with an alarming title that calls on the user to urgently resolve supposed threats to the system, security problems or any other type of error, generally via an attached link.

Acronym or abbreviation:
Phishing: Password Harvesting Fishing
