What is Tumblr?

Microblogging platform that allows content to be shared across multiple formats such as photographs, GIFs, texts, videos, live videos, audios, or chats. As with other social media, users can ‘follow’ other registered users, see their publications, and re-blog them. What distinguishes Tumblr is that it allows you to personalize your personal space down to the smallest detail, with far less complexity than tools such as Wordpress. The majority of users are aged between 18 and 24, which makes Tumblr a highly-visual space created to allow free reign to creativity, freedom of expression, and individuality. It was acquired by Yahoo in 2013, and its creator David Karp left the platform at the end of 2017.
