What is a web browser?

A software application that connects a user's computer to a web server to request and interpret the information stored on the server, displaying it as a hypertext document (web page), and enabling the user to navigate its content. The most widely used web browsers are currently Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Opera.
