What is Pinterest?

A social network created in 2010, where users create pinboards, normally arranged by subject, where they collect images–pins. Users can follow other people's pinboards, save their pins to their own boards or like other pins.

They can also install a “Pin it” button in their browsers to pin any image they come across when browsing.

In practice, it is not just a social network, but a tool to discover ideas and products or seek inspiration. The company itself defines itself as "the engine of visual discovery".
