What is syndication?

Automatic distribution of updated content from a web page to its subscribers. If the end user is someone who frequently follows a blog, they can use the feeds to keep up to date with the latest entries as soon as they are published; if the end user has their own web page, syndication enables them to incorporate source titles and partial web material into their own page.

Web syndication is being increasingly used in online commerce, where it is employed as an alternative to newsletters: users can now receive commercial information from a website without having to offer personal information in return for a subscription.
