What is pay per view?

Subscription formula in which users or viewers pay a set amount (generally in advance) in order to view content, whether on TV or on the internet.

This system is usually offered as an option to subscribers of traditional TV channels so that they can watch one-off sporting events or films. With pay-per-view, the signal is transmitted simultaneously to all viewers, in contrast to video-on-demand systems where the content is transmitted individually for each user.
