What is the environmental intelligence?

The use of multiple interconnected technologies (chips, computers, broadband, wireless, sensors, GPS devices, machines, apps) to equip a space, activity, or environment with a smart system that allows it to anticipate the needs and wishes of the user – without users being aware of it – in order to offer him/her the answers or solutions available in the market that satisfy these needs and wishes. Ambient intelligence, which can be applied to both the home and places of leisure and/or work, has been identified by the European Commission as the main future environment for the 21st century. In practice, this implies that human beings will be surrounded by smart interfaces embedded in everyday objects such as furniture, clothes, vehicles, or roads, recording their presence, adapting in a smart way to the context, and even anticipating their needs.
