What is niching?

The natural tendency of users to group together around shared interests. Audience fragmentation is a characteristic of Web 2.0, whilst social media facilitates the creation of meeting points on specific subjects, enabling specialist consumers to meet in Facebook groups, and share their impressions via Twitter, or images via Flickr, etc.
