What is the conversion rate?

Metric used to evaluate results, especially at an e-commerce or on a website. It is the percentage of users who carry out a specific action – or conversion– which might mean making a purchase, a reservation, downloading something, or registering. In order to calculate the conversion rate, the number of users who completed an action or who converted within a specified period of time is divided by the total number of visitors to the website over the same period.
