What is cart abandonment?

These are purchases which are begun on an e-commerce seller but which are never completed, and as such they are not considered to be valid transactions. The cart-abandonment rate is a key indicator for an online shop, because they represent customers who are lost at the last moment. Reasons for this interruption to the purchase include a poor user experience, the user’s lack of any real intention to buy, or unexpected costs at the last moment.
