What is Ockham´s razor?

This is a philosophical principle that states that the simplest solution or answer is often the best. Scientists use it as a general rule for the development of theoretical models, but it can also be applied to many fields of knowledge, such as linguistics, computer science, statistics, or economics.

In user experience, applying Ockham’s Razor means that where there is more than one design that is functionally the same, the simpler one should be chosen. This principle is attributed to the English Franciscan friar William of Ockham (1280-1349).
